What are cookies and how do they work?

How do I enable cookies in my browser?
For Internet Explorer 4:
1. Click on View on the toolbar and select Internet Options.
2. Select the Advanced tab and scroll down to Security.
3. Under Security, scroll down to Cookies and select Always accept cookies.
4. Click OK.
For Internet Explorer 5:
1. Click on Tools in the toolbar and select Internet Options.
2. Select the Security tab and click on Custom Level.
3. Scroll down to Cookies. There are two headings. Go to the second heading, Allow per-session cookies (not stored), and select Enable.
4. Click OK.
(Note: It is not necessary to change your setting under the first heading.)
For Netscape:
1. Click on Edit on the toolbar and select Preferences.
2. Choose Advanced in the left-hand box.
3. In the lower right-hand box, select Accept all cookies and click OK.
